Sania Mirza is the first Indian  woman to win a Grand Slam tournament, with her first major  coming in mixed doubles at the  2009 Australian Open.

She spent 91 weeks as the doubles world No. 1, making her the  only Indian woman to achieve  this feat.

Mirza has six Grand Slam titles,  the most by an Indian women,  three in doubles and three in  mixed doubles.

Mirza won the WTA Hyderabad Open  in 2005, a historic first for Indian women’s tennis.

She peaked at world No. 27 in  singles in 2007, the highest by any Indian woman.

She won the WTA Finals in doubles  in 2014 (with Cara Black) and  defended the title in 2015 (with Martina Hingis).
